The Lions lost in their season finale but they didn’t go out like lambs, as Orlando City fought for 90+ minutes against an eventual game-winning — and Supporters’ Shield-winning — New York Red Bulls side on the road. It was no moral victory but at least the lads in purple showed up with plenty of fight in them against the league’s best regular season team instead of taking a beating like last year in Philly.
There’s plenty of Orlando Pride news, with international call-ups for those we expected (Alex Morgan and Ashlyn Harris for the U.S.) and one that was surprising (Chioma Ubogagu for England).
The Orlando SeaWolves of the MASL named their first head coach and it was a big surprise to us. We discuss the appointment of Tom Traxler.
We had no mailbag questions of the week — just a nice thank-you note — but we wrapped up by making our MLS Cup playoff predictions.
We’re going to our monthly off-season schedule now, so we’ll pick it back up in November. If there’s something you want us to address on our next show, just ask by tweeting it to us @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC.
Here’s how show No. 148 unfolded:
0:13 – The Lions lost in another shutout on the road but they did give the Red Bulls a 90-minute battle. We break it down, name our Man of the Match, and discuss Decision Day.
25:55 – The Pride internationals are both obvious and surprising and the W-League season is in full swing.
37:40 – The Orlando SeaWolves have their first head coach and we are surprised and interested to see how this goes.
49:19 – We make our predictions for who will get through the MLS Cup knockout rounds and some feelings on who we think we’ll see in the final.
We’ll see you in November!
