Twitter Reacts to NWSL’s Newest Style Icon Marc Skinner

New Pride Head Coach Marc Skinner has had a difficult opening three fixtures to contend with, facing Portland Thorns, North Carolina Courage, and Reign FC — the top three teams from last year — in the opening eight days. While he ambitiously attempts to completely overhaul the team’s playing style on the field, it is the Englishman’s style off the field that is catching the attention of the league. In honor of our unexpected fashion hero, I hereby declare that I am no longer a soccer writer and will dedicate 100% of my time to #StylishSkinner content.

Another such admirer is former Chicago Red Stars and USWNT forward Stephanie McCaffrey, who hailed Skinner for setting a new standard never seen before in NWSL:

Against North Carolina, he rocked a long black hooded cardigan and classic plain white tee combo complete with the scarf of Orlando Pride supporters group, Black Swans, a touch appreciated by many.

For a chillier evening in Tacoma at the weekend he traded up for a heavier, what looked like stonewashed bomber jacket complete with black fur trim but I was relieved to see the trademark skinny black jeans remained, with many likening Skinner’s latest look to a musician.

And who said you can’t look stylish while protecting your British complexion from the Florida sunshine at training?

The Pride return home this Saturday as they take on the Utah Royals — likely the last time the new boss will still have World Cup stars at his disposable, so, while the starting XI may pick itself, it remains to be seen what outfit #StylishSkinner will pick.
