PawedCast Episode 167: Revs Rewind, D.C. and Crew Previews, Pride, World and Gold Cups & More

Orlando City marched past the New England Revolution in the U.S. Open Cup Round of 16 but it wasn’t easy. We discuss a game that seemed destined for penalties until Benji Michel checked in and brought the energy. There are, unfortunately, some injuries to discuss, as well as the recall of Mason Stajduhar.

OCB lost again and didn’t look great doing it, so we quickly gloss over that in our OCB Minute.

The Pride, on the other hand, finally won a game! We break down the first win of 2019 at the expense of Sky Blue FC and discuss who played well and who didn’t quite perform as expected. Fortunately for the Pride, but unfortunately for some of the team’s players, reinforcements are on the way as now six of the nine internationals at the World Cup will return after being eliminated — five in the Round of 16.

We’re also talking Gold Cup, skipping over our empty mail bag this week, and getting right to not one, but two sets of key match-ups and predictions, as the Lions travel to D.C. tonight and Columbus on Saturday.

Here’s how show No. 167 went down:

0:15 – Orlando City advanced to the U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals for the fourth time in the club’s history, and we’ll tell you how that happened. Plus, OCB played a match, I guess.

23:15 – The Pride won! They finally did it! We discuss a 2-1 road win and a lot of Orlando players heading back from France soon. Plus, more on the USWNT’s World Cup so far, and the USMNT in the Gold Cup.

1:10:08 – Key match-ups and predictions for Orlando at D.C. United and Columbus Crew. Are we starting to drink the purple Kool-Aid?
