Orlando City B at Chattanooga Red Wolves SC: Preview and How to Watch

After narrowly missing out on breaking its nine-game losing streak last weekend, Orlando City B (3-18-4, 13 points) will again attempt to break it tonight as it takes on Chattanooga Red Wolves SC (8-8-9, 33 points).

OCB headed north of the border last weekend for the first time this season where it took on Toronto FC II. A stellar performance by Brazilian goalkeeper Juliano Chade kept the Young Lions in it but it wasn’t enough in this back-and-forth affair. Lucas Ontivero gave the Lions the lead in the 23rd minute, but two unanswered goals by the hosts gave Toronto the lead. Thiago Souza scored in the 71st minute to equalize before the OCB defense suffered a self-inflicted wound once again. This time it was a Tanner Hummel own goal that was the difference in the 3-2 result.

Tonight, OCB takes the field once again as it travels up to Tennessee to take on Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. The first-year club is in the middle of a playoff race that includes six teams fighting for the final playoff spot. Currently sitting in sixth with 33 points, Chattanooga is just three points behind Forward Madison FC for the fourth and final playoff position.

Chattanooga has scored 30 goals this season, fifth in the league, but has done so with only 231 shots — second fewest in the league. This has resulted in a 16% conversion rate, third best in USL League One this season. Chattanooga is led offensively by Steven Beattie, who has scored nine goals in 24 appearances. Vangjel Zguro has been the creative force behind the offensive attack this season, creating a team-leading 32 chances and six assists.

Red Wolves goalkeeper Alexander Mangels has had a strong season in the net, making a league-leading 72 saves. His six clean sheets rank him sixth in the league. Despite these strong numbers, the Red Wolves have conceded 34 goals this season. That has them tied for fourth in the league, 14 goals behind OCB’s 48 goals conceded.

This will be the third and final time that these two teams face off this season. The first match in Tennessee on May 3 was a scoreless draw. It was a pretty even game as OCB held 53% of the possession and out-shot the Red Wolves, 20-13. The two teams met again on July 10 at Montverde Academy. A 13th-minute goal by Sito Seoane gave Chattanooga the lead and it appeared as though it would be OCB’s fifth straight loss. But Tresor Mbuyu struck in injury time, allowing OCB to get away with a 1-1 draw. That was the last point that OCB has gotten this season.

Tonight, the Young Lions would welcome a third point against Chattanooga as it would be their second on the road this season and would end a nine-game losing streak.
