Canada leads the group with an undefeated recorded. Les Rouges beat Cuba 6-0 in Canada, 1-0 in Cuba, and the Yanks in Canada, 2-0. Cuba is in last with no wins through three matches. The United States players know they have to bounce back from the Oct. 15 loss.

“It was a tough game and it’s time to respond,” USMNT defender Reggie Cannon said. “I think going through this pre-camp with the MLS players, and now the European players coming in, everyone has a sense that we have to respond now. This is real. This is football. Things like that happen. These setbacks happen, but it’s how you respond to them that really shape your career and shape this team as a whole. I think this team is ready to respond.”

Following the defeat, the U.S. now has to win out and make up the goal differential. Canada has a goal differential of nine, while the U.S. has five. A strong win against Canada will set up the Yanks perfectly for a rematch against Cuba. Anything short of this and the Yanks will not move on to the knockout round.

The teams first met on June 27, 1925, in a series that spans 94 years. The USMNT is 11-1-9 all-time against Canada on home soil, and 14-9-11 all-time. The last time that the teams met in the United States was in 2013. They played to a goalless draw in front of 11,737 fans at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston.
