We told you on last month’s show that the off-season was about to heat up, and it did. Our second off-season edition discusses player signings, the Lions’ new head coach, and some MLS news. We touch on which Pride player is off to a good W-League start, the beginning of the SeaWolves’ second season, and a bunch more. Oh, and we started back in November with the USMNT’s win over Canada right here in Orlando at Exploria Stadium.
We didn’t get a lot of surprises from who the Lions kept and did not in November, but what happens from here until opening day is anyone’s guess at this point. We talk about what the club still has left to do and what we think of the moves so far. The biggest addition is Oscar Pareja and we’re neither shocked nor disappointed that he’s the new Orlando City gaffer.
Emily van Egmond is finding the net in Australia and we’re hoping she can find it here in Orlando once she returns. We’re not getting our hopes up too high based on what Rachel Hill has done in the W-League the past two seasons but to get a fully weaponized van Egmond would be a treat for Marc Skinner and his squad.
The SeaWolves are off to a bad start but they’ve been hampered by immigration issues and so we’re really still not sure what we’ll see from Orlando’s MASL club in Year 2.
We had quite a few pieces of listener mail to answer this month. Thanks for the questions, everyone! If there’s something you want us to address on our next show, just ask by tweeting it to us @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC.
Here’s how show No. 183 went down:
0:15 – The USMNT has made Exploria Stadium its newest fortress with last month’s win over Canada. The Lions made a bunch of player moves and a very shrewd coaching move since this time last month.
35:10 – Sporting Kansas City’s huge off-season signing and the new MLS alignment adds Inter Miami to the East while folks will have to travel way out to the wild west to play Nashville. Apparently.
49:26 – Pride / NWSL talk, the SeaWolves kicked off their season, and actual questions from actual listeners!
