Orlando Pride Announce 2020 Preseason Schedule

The Orlando Pride announced the club’s 2020 preseason schedule today and it’s a short slate of friendlies — all against college competition. The Pride will face Florida State University and UCF on the road before hosting South Florida in a closed-door friendly. The FSU and UCF matches will be open, however.

The Pride will kick off their 2020 NWSL preseason with a training session this Monday at the club’s new training facility at Sylvan Lake Park — the former training home of Orlando City’s MLS side.

This will mark the third consecutive year the Pride have had three or fewer preseason games. The team played three last year, only two in 2018, a record five in 2017, and four in the Pride’s inaugural season of 2016. Orlando has played USF every preseason and this will be the fourth time in five years that the Pride will face Florida State. The Seminoles are one of two sides — and the only college team — to hand the Pride a preseason loss, winning 3-2 in Tallahassee in February of 2018. The only other team with a win over the Pride in preseason is the North Carolina Courage (last year).

The Pride are 12-2-0 in the preseason, playing most of those games against regional college teams. The team will kick off its fifth NWSL season on Sunday, April 19 at home against Sky Blue FC.
