PawedCast Episode 189: Miguel Gallardo Interview, W-League Final, Orlando City March Madness and More

With the sports world stopped, it’s time to fill our days and nights with other things. One of those things is a completely make believe tournament that our website is hosting. Round 2 of that will start tomorrow, but for now we’re here to talk a little bit about life in this weird, new world and how things are going overall.

We also brought in Orlando City legend Miguel Gallardo — a guy who helped bring trophies to this city as a goalkeeper and who now (when there are games) lends his knowledge of the game to the Lions’ television broadcasts. We checked in with Miggy to find out how he’s faring in this eerie sports-free reality, what he thinks of Orlando City’s direction under Oscar Pareja, and even what he thinks of his spot in our Orlando City March Madness tournament.

After that, we go in-depth into the bracket itself, discussing the first-round voting, the match-ups, and guys who didn’t make the tournament. We also talk about the Orlando Pride players in last weekend’s W-League Grand Final — the last live soccer match we were able to watch before everything shut down worldwide. And, the Olympics are pushed to 2021 which will help the Pride if/when the NWSL finally gets going.

Finally, we answer our mailbag questions. If there’s anything — and we do mean anything —you want us to address on our next show, just ask by tweeting it to us @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC.

Stay safe and enjoy the show.

Here’s how show No. 189 went down:

0:15 – The coronavirus is still ruining everything and we hate it.

28:53 – Former Orlando City goalkeeper (and current team broadcaster) Miguel Gallardo joins us to talk about COVID-19 stopping the sports world, the Lions’ direction, and more.

49:05 – Congratulations to Emily van Egmond and Claire Emslie on their W-League title, even if the game wasn’t a classic, the Olympics are postponed, and a whole lot of shows you can binge in our mailbag segment.
