Orlando Pride Name Seb Hines as Assistant Coach

The Orlando Pride announced this afternoon that former Orlando City center back Seb Hines is joining Marc Skinner’s staff. The 31-year-old former professional will be an assistant coach for the NWSL side.

Since retiring as a player, Hines has been helping the Pride coaching staff while coaching in the club’s boys youth setup. He assisted with individualized training sessions and scouting under both Skinner and former Pride head coach Tom Sermanni.

“Seb is a wonderful addition to the Pride team,” Skinner said about the appointment. “His playing experience in the Premier League and for Orlando City adds a greater breadth of skills to our coaching team. He is extremely well respected by the players and will provide high-level insights to help the team progress toward our targets. Above all, Seb possesses a team-first attitude and he showed this by assisting the club throughout the whole of last season. We are always looking for ways to develop a high-level support structure for our players and Seb is a key character within this plan.”

Hines came up in the youth academy of Middlesbrough FC in England. He was at the club from 2005 to 2015, making his debut during the 2017 season. In total, he made 69 appearances in the Premier League and Championship, scoring three goals.

In 2015, Hines joined Orlando City as a central defender on the MLS first team. Between 2015 and 2017, the Englishman made 59 appearances with 53 starts and accumulated five goals in 4,893 minutes. He also spent some time with OCB during his playing career, appearing in 15 games with 14 starts and one goal in 1,160 minutes.
