Worldwide Pride: England’s WSL Returns and Other Orlando Pride News

It was a busy weekend for Orlando Pride players abroad. The FA Women’s Super League returned to action. This meant that Emily van Egmond, Claire Emslie, Alanna Kennedy, and Shelina Zadorsky all got back to meaningful competitions.

Below is how all of the players abroad did this past week:

Claire Emslie (Everton — England)

Everton beat up on Bristol City, 4-0. Emslie did not start, but she entered the match in the 71st minute. She had an 83% passing accuracy on 12 passes and one chance created. She also put in one cross. Emslie will take on her Pride teammates on Sunday when Everton plays Tottenham.

Alanna Kennedy (Tottenham — England), Shelina Zadorsky (Tottenham — England), Emily van Egmond (West Ham United — England)

Kennedy, van Egmond, and Zadorsky were all on the bench to start the match. Kennedy entered the match in the 68th minute, van Egmond in the 54th, and Zadorsky did not play. Van Egmond had one clearance and was 57% accurate on 14 passes. Kennedy had five duels won and made two clearances. Tottenham takes on Everton on Sunday, while West Ham faces Arsenal and former Pride player Steph Catley on Saturday.

Camila (SE Palmeiras — Brazil)

Once again, Camila started and she helped Palmeiras to a 2-1 victory over Kindermann-Avaí. She played the full 90 minutes. The win put Palmeiras in second place with 15 points, just one game behind first place Santos. Palmeiras has a double game week coming up. First is Minas ICESP on Wednesday and then São José Esporte Clube on Saturday.

Ali Riley (FC Rosengård — Sweden)

Once again, Ali Riley got the start. This time, however, she only lasted 66 minutes before being substituted off. Rosengard was up 2-0 at that point, and added a third goal in the 86th minute to beat Djugarden 3-0. Riley and Rosengard sit in first place and are back in action on Sunday.

Phoebe McClernon (Växjö DFF — Sweden)

Vaxjo ended its five-match losing streak with a goalless draw against KIF Orebro. McClernon started at center back for the Swedish side and played the full 90 minutes. Vaxjo takes on Umea on Friday.

Emily Sonnett (Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC — Sweden)

Sonnett did not feature in Göteborg’s 3-0 win over Eskilstuna United. Hopefully, she can break back into the starting XI on Sunday, when Göteborg takes on Djurgarden.

Erin McLeod (Ungmennafélag Stjarnan — Iceland)

The Canadian started again and helped her team to a 3-2 win over Selfoss. Stjarnan next plays Breidablik on Wednesday and Valur on Sunday.

Carson Pickett (Apollon Ladies FC — Cyprus)

The Cyprus women’s football league is currently in preseason. Apollon kicks off the season on Sunday.

Jade Moore (Atletico Madrid — Spain)

Atletico Madrid currently do not have any matches scheduled.

Taylor Kornieck (MSV Duisburg — Germany)

It has been officially announced that Kornieck was loaned to MSV Duisburg in Germany. Duisburg drew Meppen on Sunday, but Kornieck was not involved. Hopefully she will get some more reps in with her new team and will feature in the next match against Leverkusen on Friday.
