Lion Links: 9/30/20
Good morning, Mane Landers! I hope the day finds you well. Let’s go ahead and jump right into the links.
Lions Slip a Spot in the MLS Power Rankings
A new week means new MLS Power Rankings. Until this week, the Lions had been on an upward climb in the rankings. The 0-0 draw in Dallas and Toronto’s win over Columbus have Orlando City dropping back from the number four spot to five.
“They’re now on an eight-game unbeaten streak and getting the job done regardless of who Oscar Pareja trots out,” Jonathan Sigal wrote.
The New York Red Bulls had the biggest jump in rankings from 21 to 12 after a pair of 4-1 wins. The Red Bulls are seemingly improving their hustle just in time to take on the Lions.

Sergino Dest Arrives in Barcelona
United States Men’s National Team right back Sergino Dest arrived in Barcelona yesterday after finalizing an almost $30 million transfer from Ajax. With a mutual agreement on a five-year deal in place, Dest left Amsterdam and arrived in Barcelona. While there, he will undergo a medical before signing the paperwork.
Thiago Alcantara Tests Positive for Coronavirus
The 29-year-old Liverpool midfielder missed Monday’s match against Arsenal. Thiago Alcantara was exhibiting minor symptoms and has since tested positive for COVID-19.
“We have followed all the protocols to the letter and Thiago is OK. He will be self-isolating now as per the guidelines and hopefully he’ll be back with us soon,” the club shared on their site yesterday.
