PawedCast Episode 232: Orlando City Signings and Rumors, MLS CBA Ratified, Pride Re-Sign Leroux, and More

Orlando City addressed one major roster need within the last week and appears poised to fill another. Left back Jonathan Suarez is in the fold for 2021 — a much-needed backup for the recovering Joao Moutinho — and Brazilian forward Alexandre Pato could be added soon as well, if he accepts the club’s offer. We’re breaking down those moves/potential moves and discussing the Major League Soccer collective bargaining agreement. We’re not having a lockout! Plus: Daryl Dike’s Barnsley debut was delayed by poor pitch conditions and former Orlando City center back Alex De John has a new team up north, but not in MLS.

The Orlando Pride locked down Sydney Leroux for the next three (and maybe four) years with a surprising contract offer. She signed it, so we can expect Syd to be around for a while. Marc Skinner’s team also managed to sign newly acquired midfielder Erika Tymrak as the club continues to shape its roster for 2021. Plus, Carson Pickett is headed to North Carolina in exchange for a player who may or may not be signed at some point.

This week’s mailbag had questions about the Super Bowl halftime show and how we’d program it if given the chance. It turns out that we’ve got some opinions on that. If there’s anything — and we do mean anything —you want us to address on our next show, just ask by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC.

That’s all for this week.

Stay safe and enjoy the show!

Here’s how show No. 232 went down:

0:15 – The CBA has been ratified, so no more lockout talk. The Lions get another player on a loan with a purchase option, and we wait to see if Pato will join the fold.

24:18 – The Orlando Pride re-sign one player, sign another after recently acquiring her rights, and say goodbye to Carson Pickett.

39:39 – Our mailbag reminds us that a horrible Twitter meme came out of this year’s Super Bowl.
