Orlando Pride vs. Club America, Concacaf W Champions Cup: Preview, How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineups, Match Thread, and More
The Pride look to move atop Group A with a Concacaf W Champions Cup win against Club America in Mexico City.
Welcome to your match thread as the Orlando Pride (2-0-0, 6 points) travel to Mexico for the first time ever to face Club America Femenil (2-0-1, 7 points). It will be the club’s third match in the 2025-2026 Concacaf W Champions Cup, and the Pride are looking to win to go to the top of the table.
Here’s everything you need to know about tonight’s game.
History
There’s no history between these two teams as they’ve never faced each other in any competition. The coaches haven’t coached in the other league, but Club America does have a couple of players that have played in the NWSL. The Pride haven’t played Jordan Brewster, but they have faced Scarlett Camberos as a member of Angel City FC and Bay FC.
The only player to face Club America is Jacquie Ovalle, who joined the Pride from Tigres UANL, with whom she played from 2017 to 2025. However, since the Pride play three games in a week, the Mexican international might not appear in this one.
While this is the first time the Pride will play in Mexico, it’s the second time they’ll face a Mexican team. They hosted CF Monterrey in the NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup last year, drawing their first international game 2-2.
Overview
The Pride’s inaugural Concacaf W Champions Cup campaign has been easy so far despite the club using many backups in the starting lineup. It started with a 3-0 win over LD Alajuelense at home and a 5-0 win over Chorrillo FC in Panama City, Panama. But the task becomes much more difficult tonight with the first of two games against Mexican sides.
Pride Head Coach Seb Hines has made several changes to the league lineups for the Champions Cup games, giving players who rarely play an opportunity to prove themselves. In the most recent game, that player was Summer Yates, who netted the team’s second-ever hat trick after Barbra Banda scored three goals against the Utah Royals earlier in the year.
Despite playing a much tougher opponent than they’ve seen so far in this competition, Hines might feel it necessary to make several changes again given the team’s current stretch of games. The Pride beat San Diego Wave FC 2-1 in Southern California Friday night for their first league win since June 13. After tonight’s game, they travel to Texas, where they’ll face the Houston Dash Friday night.
The win in San Diego ended a nine-game winless run in the league and provides some much-needed confidence for a team struggling to find the back of the net. A win against a tough team south of the border would only boost the team’s morale as the Pride look to win the group and finish the NWSL regular season strong.
Club America is in its second consecutive Concacaf W Champions Cup. Las Águilas won their group last year, which featured the Portland Thorns and the Wave. They then fell 3-1 to NJ/NY Gotham FC in the semifinal and 3-0 to the Portland Thorns in the third-place playoff — both in Mexico.
As you would expect from one of the biggest clubs in Mexico, the women’s team has been a contender year after year. It won the 2018 Apertura and the 2023 Clausera and was the runner-up in the 2022 Apertura, 2023 Apertura, 2024 Clausera, and 2025 Clausera. Las Águilas currently sit third in the league after 13 games with 29 points, just three points behind the leaders, Tigres UANL.
This is a crucial game in Group A, as it will decide the group leader. Club America is currently top with seven points from three games. The Pride sit second with six points but have only played two games thus far. Three points for the Pride would guarantee the Pride at least a tie for top of the group and advancement to the semifinals in May.
“We’re on the road for these three games, and we wanted to get off to a good start. So we’ve done that part of the job,” Hines said after Friday’s win. “Getting a win against San Diego, all our attention will go now on to Club America. They’re a fantastic team. They’ve got some really good, quality players. It’s a challenge for us with a quick turnaround and the travel along the way. But, with this group, they’re very much together. Some players may have to play this game (at San Diego), and then the game on Tuesday. But you want to be playing games. This is why we love football. We don’t want to just train. We want to play games. We want to win football matches. We want to progress in this competition. So, like I said, there will be some rotation. But everyone knows the direction that we want to go in, and that is to qualify from the Concacaf Champions Cup group.”
