Lions Reportedly Acquire Aurelien Collin from Sporting KC

Last night we told you about the reports linking Orlando City to a trade for Philadelphia Union midfielder Amobi Okugo. According to Paul Tenorio of the Orlando Sentinel, that deal isn't the only major trade going down today. Tenorio reports that the Lions have added defender Aurelien Collin in a trade with Sporting KC, in exchange for allocation money and future considerations. A second solid source has confirmed the deal.

Today's story adds that Orlando City has also acquired a two-year international slot from D.C. United in exchange for more allocation money.

The club is reportedly sending allocation money and a second-round pick in the 2016 SuperDraft to Philadelphia for Okugo's rights.

Basically, Orlando City is making it rain allocation money up in here.

Collin, a centerback, adds another vital piece to Adrian Heath's roster. He and Okugo, along with Kaka, can create a solid spine for Orlando's MLS squad. The Frenchman is a three-time MLS All-Star and has twice been named to the MLS Best XI squad. A member of SKC's 2013 MLS Cup-winning side — and, in fact, the 2013 MLS Cup MVP — Collin has four seasons of experience in the league, playing 107 games (103) starts and making 10 playoff appearances. He has scored 11 goals and added two assists.

These moves have not yet been announced by the club, which is hosting a media conference call at 1 p.m. with Heath. However, this would seem to serve as a big clue:

These moves are not without risk to City, however.

It's doubtful Orlando City would make these moves without having made some exploration of the signing particulars. If all these reports are true, this is already a huge day for OCSC.
