Welcome to your live match thread for tonight’s match-up between Orlando City (4-5-11, 23 points) and New England Revolution (6-7-8, 26 points). It’s the third and final scheduled meeting between the clubs this season and the first MLS game for the Lions under new boss Jason Kreis. Orlando City is 0-1-3 in the all-time series.

The teams have drawn 2-2 twice this season (and three times in four meetings), starting with the weird affair in Orlando back on April 17 in which the teams reached a controversial 2-2 final score. It was leveled by a very late Lee Nguyen penalty for a handball in the box on Servando Carrasco, who didn’t touch the it with any part of his hand or arm. Kaká opened the scoring on a much less controversial penalty kick and Kevin Molino scored in the 92nd minute after receiving a ball that did appear to come off the Trinidadian’s arm. Between those two goals, Teal Bunbury scored off a corner that appeared to be a goal kick. It was an odd game all around.

The second meeting reached the same final score on April 30 in New England. This time the Revs appeared the better side for much of the game. But the Lions fought back twice from one-goal deficits on goals by Molino and Carlos Rivas to nullify scores by Diego Fagundez and Juan Agudelo.

The teams met twice last season, with Orlando City rallying from a 2-0 deficit in the final 17 minutes to draw 2-2 (there’s that score again) at the Citrus Bowl last April. Cyle Larin and Aurelien Collin provided the goals for the Lions.

The Sept. 5 rematch at Gillette Stadium didn’t go as well, with New England taking a 3-0 win in a match that saw the Revs out-shoot Orlando, 21-8. Despite the lopsided shots and score, the Revolution led only 1-0 until the 84th minute against the short-handed Lions, who were without four key players — Kaká, Larin, Brek Shea and Darwin Ceren — in addition to having lost Kevin Molino early in the year. Fagundez, Agudelo and Chris Tierney scored for the Revolution.

The Revs are on a run of good form, having gone three games unbeaten (2-0-1) with wins over Chicago and Columbus and a draw against Real Salt Lake. New England has conceded just one goal during that run and none in the last two games. Meanwhile, Orlando is winless in five (0-2-3) since June 25.

Rafael Ramos (hamstring), Tommy Redding (hamstring), Harrison Heath (knee), and Pedro Ribeiro (back) are out for Orlando. For New England, Charlie Davies, Juan Agudelo, Femi Hollinger-Janzen, and Donnie Smith have been struggling with various issues.

This is your live thread for posting comments on the match. So use our comments section below to talk about the game in real time with other supporters. If you're new, welcome to our happy home! While you're here, please observe a few basic rules:

  • Absolutely no links to illegal streams. They can get us in trouble, and no one wants that.
  • Try not to be “that guy” who spews nothing but venom and hate for the team. It’s OK to be critical, and, let’s face it, sometimes even the best teams can be frustrating to watch, but being overly negative relentlessly can sap the enjoyment for others.
  • Keep it somewhat clean and fair when criticizing players / officials. You never know who might be reading.
  • Do unto others in the match thread, the way you would have others do unto you. We are a fun community and want to keep it this way. We have a moderator, but we’d rather let him enjoy the game instead of having to play babysitter.
