Orlando City at Toronto FC: How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineups, Match Thread and More
Welcome to your match thread for tonight's MLS Eastern Conference match-up between Orlando City (7-10-13, 34 points) and Toronto FC (13-8-9, 48 points). It's the third and final scheduled meeting between the two sides in 2016 but just the first time the two sides have met north of the border this year.
Orlando City is 1-4-0 in the all-time series, beating Toronto for the first time back on June 25, 3-2, at home. Kaká scored from the spot in the 10th minute of stoppage in that game to win it for the Lions. Toronto fought back twice from deficits, with Cyle Larin and Adrian Winter staking OCSC to leads, only to see Jordan Hamilton and Justin Morrow equalize, until the captain’s late winner.
The Reds took the second match-up in Orlando with a 2-1 victory, scoring in the 86th minute on a goal in which Jozy Altidore appeared to be a smidge offside. Tosaint Ricketts staked Toronto to an early lead but the Lions fought back on a Cyle Larin goal. Just as things looked set for a draw, Altidore ruined everything.
Toronto won all three meetings last year. Altidore's brace was all of the scoring in the first match-up, a 2-0 Toronto win on April 26, 2015. Sebastian Giovinco's hat trick led the way to a 4-1 drubbing of the Lions on Aug. 5 of last year, with Luke Boden scoring Orlando's only goal. Collen Warner also scored for Toronto. In the third meeting last year, Toronto FC blasted Orlando, 5-0, on Aug. 22. Rafael Ramos and Winter were both sent off that day. Marky Delgado, Giovinco, Morrow, and Altidore (twice) provided the goals.
Toronto is unbeaten in three games (1-0-2) and is 7-2-5 at home this season. Orlando City has lost three in a row by a combined 12-4 score and is just 2-7-6 away from Camping World Stadium.
The Lions will be without Antonio Nocerino, who picked up a red card Saturday night at D.C. United. Everyone else should be available, including Tommy Redding, who played in Orlando City B’s 2-0 win at Bethlehem Steel on Sunday before flying to Canada to rejoin the senior team. Toronto’s big missing piece is Giovinco, but the Reds have plenty of firepower without him.
