Orlando City vs. Montreal Impact: How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineups, Match Thread and More

Welcome to your match thread for tonight's MLS Eastern Conference match-up between Orlando City (7-10-14, 35 points) and the Montreal Impact (10-10-11, 41 points). It's the third and final scheduled meeting between the two sides in 2016 and the second of two at Camping World Stadium.

The Lions captured the first meeting in Orlando, 2-1, back on May 21. Cyle Larin scored a brace in that match – both off Kaká assists – after Ignacio Piatti opened the scoring four minutes in. The second match-up came just a few weeks ago, with Orlando City putting together it’s best road game since joining MLS, winning 4-1 in Montreal’s Stade Saputo. Didier Drogba’s free kick goal came just a minute into the match but Brek Shea answered two minutes later, with Kaká adding a brace and Carlos Rivas finishing off a great night in Canada for the Lions.

Orlando and Montreal also met three times in 2015, splitting the series, 1-1-1. The first match-up came in Montreal’s Olympic Stadium with many players away on international duty in a 2-2 draw on March 14. Despite falling behind 2-0 on early goals from Piatti (pen.) and Jack McInerney, the Lions rallied with goals from Kaká and Pedro Ribeiro. The Impact won 2-0 at Stade Saputo to snap Orlando’s five-game unbeaten streak on June 20, with the Lions coming off a midweek U.S. Open Cup tie at Charleston. Donny Toia and Dominic Oduro scored for Montreal.

The Lions won the third meeting, 2-1 at home on Oct. 3, with goals from Larin and Seb Hines, offsetting an Oduro goal, which he kicked out of goalkeeper Tally Hall’s hands. Hines’ dramatic game-winning goal came in the 80th minute off the volley. That win pulled Orlando City within a point of Montreal at the time and kept its playoff hopes alive for another week.

Orlando City is winless in four matches (0-3-1) after Wednesday’s 0-0 draw at Toronto FC. The Lions are 5-3-7 at Camping World Stadium in 2016. Montreal snapped a 0-3-1 skid Wednesday with a 3-1 home win over San Jose. The Impact are 3-5-7 away from Montreal this year.

The Lions will be without Shea, who took an unwise and unnecessary yellow card at Toronto in the midweek and he’ll sit due to his accumulation of cautions. Tommy Redding will be off to join the U-20 USMNT team for the Four Nations Tournament. Antonio Nocerino returns from his red card suspension. Montreal defender Hassoun Camara was suspended by the league on Friday for a serious foul against San Jose’s Alberto Quintero on Wednesday. In addition, Victor Cabrera is out due to yellow card suspension and Donny Toia is injured. That puts three starting caliber defenders out for Montreal. Let’s hope that helps wake up the Lions’ sputtering offense.
