USA vs. Cuba International Friendly: How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineup, Match Thread and More
Welcome to your match thread for today’s international friendly match between the United States Men’s National Team and Cuba. The teams are playing at Havana’s Estadio Pedro Marrero, marking only the third time the two nations have met on Cuban soil.
The USMNT is 9-1-1 in 11 previous meetings, but just 1-1-0 in the two trips to the island. Cuba won the first ever meeting, 5-2, way back on July 20, 1947. Clint Dempsey provided the lone tally with a 40th-minute strike in a 1-0 FIFA World Cup qualifying match on Sept. 6, 2008.
The Yanks, who will play New Zealand on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., are preparing for the toughest part of the Hex in November, with a home match against Mexico in Columbus and a road battle with Costa Rica on Nov. 11 and 15, respectively.
Jurgen Klinsmann has called in a few new faces for this set of friendlies, perhaps to see if any of them might be an option for the squad in November. One spot will certainly be open with Dempsey sidelined with an irregular heartbeat. But the Americans will also be looking at their goalkeeping situation, with Klinsmann leaving Tim Howard and Brad Guzan out this time and calling in San Jose Earthquakes keeper David Bingham, along with Ethan Horvath and William Yarbrough. Bingham and Yarbrough have a combined three caps and Horvath has yet to see the field for the USMNT.
There’s no reason the U.S. shouldn’t win easily, but weird things can happen when the team travels in the Caribbean and Central America. The pitch is rarely in the type of shape most of the U.S. players are used to and that 1-0 nervy World Cup qualifier shows that even when the stakes are high, the game can be unduly close. Still, look for Jurgen’s boys to come home with a win.

Match Thread Rules
This is your live thread for posting comments on the match. So use our comments section below to talk about the game in real time with other supporters. If you're new, welcome to our happy home! While you're here, please observe a few basic rules:
- Absolutely no links to illegal streams. They can get us in trouble, and no one wants that.
- Try not to be "that guy" who spews nothing but venom and hate for the team. It's OK to be critical, and, let's face it, sometimes even the best teams can be frustrating to watch, but being overly negative relentlessly can sap the enjoyment for others.
- Keep it somewhat clean and fair when criticizing players / officials. You never know who might be reading.
- Do unto others in the match thread, the way you would have others do unto you. We are a fun community and want to keep it this way. We have a moderator, but we'd rather let him enjoy the game instead of having to play babysitter.
