USA vs. Mexico, International Friendly Rematch: Preview, How to Watch, TV Info, Live Stream, Lineups, and Match Thread

Welcome to your live thread for the second of two United States Women's National Team international friendlies against Mexico (FOX, 1:30 p.m.). The two teams met Thursday in Jacksonville, with the USWNT coming out on top, 4-1, thanks to a brace by Orlando Pride star. Alex Morgan. Today’s match will be in Houston.

The Americans are 33-1-1 against Mexico in the all-time series after 35 meetings. Prior to Thursday, the last time the two sides met was in 2016 World Cup qualifying. Carli Lloyd’s goal held up in a 1-0 U.S. win in Frisco, TX. Mexico’s only win in the series came in 2011 Women’s World Cup qualifying — a 2-1 final that forced the United States to win the Concacaf third-place match and then a two-leg playoff against Italy to qualify for the big tournament in Germany.

The U.S. is 4-0-0 in four previous matches played at BBVA Compass Stadium. The most recent was a 5-1 victory over Russia in April of last year — a game started by Pride goalkeeper Ashlyn Harris, who is on the U.S. roster but you’d hardly know (thanks for nothin’, Jill Ellis). The other U.S. wins in Houston came against China (4-0 in 2012), Trinidad & Tobago (5-0 in 2016), and Canada (2-0 in 2016).

Ellis has called in a young squad, with 13 players born in 1993 or later and an average age of 25. It includes UCLA star Hailie Mace, who is listed as a defender although she plays striker in college because Jill Ellis. It also includes SheBelieves Cup breakout star defender Tierna Davidson and her Stanford teammate, Tegan McGrady.
