Welcome to your live thread for the United States Women's National Team against Scotland (2 p.m. ET, FS1, UDN) in the second of two friendly matches against European competition. The USWNT can finish the 2018 calendar year without a loss if it wins today at at The Simple Digital Arena in Paisley, Scotland, after securing a hard-fought 1-0 win at Portugal last Thursday. The U.S. is 17-0-2 this year.

The USWNT holds a 3-0-0 record against Scotland but has never visited the country to play today’s hosts. The teams last met for a pair of friendlies in 2013 in the United States when former Orlando Pride head coach Tom Sermanni was at the helm of the USWNT. The Yanks won those contests 4-1 and 3-1 in Jacksonville and Nashville, respectively.

Scotland is ranked No. 19 in the world by FIFA in the latest world rankings. Like the United States, Scotland is headed to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup after going 7-1-0 to win Group 2 in qualifying. It is the country’s first time qualifying for the event. The Scots are missing perhaps their best player in midfielder and former NWSL MVP Kim Little, who broke her leg. You may be familiar with Scotland defender Rachel Corsie, who plays for Utah Royals FC in the NWSL.

The United States will be a bit thin, with the news last week that Christen Press and Tobin Heath will not take part due to commitments elsewhere. After Thursday’s win, Lindsey Horan returned to the U.S. due to a commitment as well.

Still, the United States should be fine. The Yanks have not lost since the 2017 Tournament of Nations (24-0-3).
