Orlando Pride Announce Roster Status Update Following 2025 NWSL Season
Most of the 2025 team that reached the NWSL semifinal round is slated to come back in 2026
The Orlando Pride updated the team’s roster status today in the wake of the 2025 NWSL season, with practically no decisions being necessary. The team has a core of players under contract for 2026 with some of the out-of-contract players having already been out on loan.
The 23 players under contract for the 2026 season or beyond include: Kerry Abello, Kat Asman (on loan), Barbra Banda, Luana, Grace Chanda, Zara Chavoshi, Angelina, McKinley Crone, Julie Doyle, Cori Dyke, Oihane, Simone Jackson, Ally Lemos, Haley McCutcheon, Cosette Morché, Anna Moorhouse, Kylie Nadaner, Jacquie Ovalle, Emily Sams, Rafaelle, Marta, Viviana Villacorta, and Summer Yates. Of those, Chavoshi, Lemos, Luana, McCutcheon, Moorhouse, and Rafaelle all had their contract situations addressed during the 2025 season.
Players out of contract include Amanda Allen, Elyse Bennett, Simone Charley, Morgan Gautrat, Mariana Larroquette, Aryssa Mahrt, Bri Martinez, and Carson Pickett. Of those, Allen, Gautrat, Larroquette, Mahrt, and Martinez were all loaned out to other clubs during the 2025 NWSL season. Bennett’s short-term contract ended after the season, while Charley and Pickett also saw their deals end. The Pride did not indicate that any talks were ongoing with anyone about returning.
Additionally, Ally Watt’s loan spell with Orlando ended and she will be part of the Denver Summitt’s inaugural season in 2026.
What It Means for Orlando
While it’s good that the club has so much of the roster set for next year already, the Pride don’t seem to have much flexibility in adding new players ahead of the 2026 season, and this is a team that needs to get better to keep up with other teams around the league. Without Banda in the lineup, the Pride lacks pace on the pitch among the starters. Losing Watt only exacerbates that condition. While fans have yet to see what the combination of Ovalle and Banda can bring the club when both are healthy, it will be interesting to see how much the club can improve just by replacing Bennett, Charley, and Pickett ahead of the 2026 season.
The team’s defense should be fine, barring a wave of injuries. Moorhouse is a good shot stopper, and the club seems willing to live with her occasional howlers, which is fine when the offense is clicking but quite detrimental when the Pride are struggling to score.
On the other end, it’s possible that Banda’s return and a full preseason camp could unlock Ovalle, who has not yet performed to the level one would expect of a then-record signing. Pride fans will hope that is the case and that the Zambian international can quickly regain her fitness and form. That should also help Marta, who did not have the best season, but she showed up at the end when it mattered most.
