We’ve come down from the high of our 200th episode with two outstanding guests just in time to bring you…whatever this week’s show is. We did make inquiries about guests this week but they didn’t pan out, although we’ve likely only kicked the can down the road on that front. So…this show will be short, right? Well…that was the intention and we simply don’t seem capable at this point, so just listen in whatever increments you can.

We’ve got more discussion on both the MLS is Back Tournament and the 2020 NWSL Challenge Cup as more details have emerged about both since we last spoke. We know who Orlando City will play and some details about the tourney itself, and we know when the Orlando Pride will play and how to watch them. We also discuss a pretty cool 50th birthday gift that Alexi Lalas was given this week.

Our listener mail this week inquired about burritos and the zombie apocalypse. We love you guys and your variety of questions. Keep them coming. If there’s anything — and we do mean anything —you want us to address on our next show, just ask by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC.

If the show ended there, it would have been a nice, crisp show. However…we continued to discuss our Marvel Cinematic Universe rewatch with Captain America: Civil War and Doctor Strange. Neither movie is perfect, but we let you know what we liked about them and some of the things that were bothersome.

Stay safe and enjoy the show.

Here’s how show our supersized No. 201 extravaganza went down:

0:15 – Details! We now know more about both the MLS and NWSL tournaments that are going to bring soccer joy (and pain) back into our lives. Oh, and happy birthday to Alexi.

35:25 – The mailbag inquires about burrito places and burrito bowls and we like talking about burritos almost as much as eating them. Oh, and which Orlando players are your zombie apocalypse squad? We discuss!

49:15 – We turn this question thing around on our listeners and ask one of our own (send us your answers either below or on Twitter. And this week we delve into the most recent Captain America flick and the debut of Doctor Strange.

SkoPurp Soccer Episode 125: Bay FC Rewind, USWNT Friendlies in Brazil, and More

The Pride enter the summer break on a high note but it comes at a cost as Barbra Banda leaves the game injured.

The Orlando Pride hosted Bay FC and made it two straight wins for the first time in 2026. Orlando continued its successful ways against California-based teams with another standout performance by striker Barbra Banda. The Zambian international scored two goals and set up another to lead the Pride to another big three points on the cusp of the World Cup break. Jacquie Ovalle and Zara Chavoshi came off the bench, taking the Pride two steps closer to having a healthy roster.

It wasn’t all good news, however. The game was fun until Banda picked up an injury late in the game and now we wait to see what the severity is. Losing Banda for any length of time is not ideal for a team reliant on her for goals and hovering near the bottom of the playoff places.

We break down the Pride’s 3-1 win at home, look back at our score predictions, and make our selections for Player of the Match.

This week’s mailbagbox asked about Nicole Payne, Tallahassee-based side TLH Reckoning, Orlando Pride players as USWNT starters, and more. Remember, you can ask us anything by hitting us up on Twitter at either @TheManeLand or @SkoPurpSoccer and using the hashtag #AskSkoPurp. You can use that same hashtag and hit @TheManeLand.bsky.social up on Bluesky. Or you can visit our show page, scroll down, and fill out the handy form. We’d also appreciate any ratings or reviews you can leave wherever you get your podcasts, and if you do that on Apple Podcasts, we’ll find them easily and read them on the show.

After the mailbagbox, we look ahead to the USWNT heading to Brazil for a pair of friendlies. These games should be good tests for Emma Hayes’ side, and it will be fun to watch Orlando’s Brazilians play for their national team.

With Orlando City off until mid-July, we start this week’s show with a brief discussion of the United States Men’s National Team’s friendly win over Senegal on Sunday. Former Lion Alex Freeman continues to impress at the international level, and the U.S. was able to hang with a good African side despite blowing a lead and changing most of the squad at halftime. It may not mean much for the World Cup, but it’s good to see the USMNT playing tough against good sides from around the world. Germany is up next.

We then turned our attention toward OCB’s win over Chattanooga at home on Sunday. The Young Lions threw away their early lead before halftime, but then they sprung to life in the second half and dominated the second half, scoring four unanswered goals to win 5-2. We break down OCB’s win, which sprung the team toward the top of the Eastern Conference table.

Our mailbagbox asked us which OCB players might play well enough to earn first-team minutes after the World Cup break. Remember, if there’s anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC, or hitting us up on Bluesky Social with that same hashtag.

After the mailbagbox, we prepare for OCB’s upcoming match with Carolina Core FC. The Young Lions have a chance to keep things rolling against one of the teams low in the Eastern Conference. We discuss where the teams are relative to one another in the table and which players OCB will need to keep tabs on.

Be sure to rate and review our show wherever you get your podcasts. Remember, we’ll read any five-star reviews we get on Apple Podcasts on the next show.

SkoPurp Soccer Episode 124: San Diego Wave Rewind, Bay FC Preview, and More

The Pride rose to the occasion in San Diego and will try to enter the break on a high note against Bay FC.

The Orlando Pride stayed on the road, which is usually a recipe for disaster. But instead of suffering a second straight multi-goal loss, the Pride rose to the occasion, played with grit and determination, and beat the then-first-place San Diego Wave 1-0 on the road. While Orlando has been adept at getting results in California in the past, there was no reason to expect an injury-plagued, reeling team to look like it was back in 2024, refusing to lose.

We break down the Pride’s big road win and how it could be a sign that the club has figured things out, look back at our score predictions, and make our selections for Player of the Match.

This week’s mailbagbox asked about why this Orlando Pride team can’t be normal, what if the team had been healthy all season, and more.

After the mailbagbox, we look ahead to Friday’s final game before the break as Bay FC comes to Orlando. We look back at the limited series history between the two clubs, provide our key matchups, and make our final score predictions.

If you’d like to support our independent writing and podcasting efforts, we’d love to have you as a subscriber or donor over at our Buy Me a Coffee site.

Here’s how Episode 124 went down:

0:15 – Orlando continued its road trip and found a way to finish it on a high note.

14:56 – The mailbagbox is not sure what to make of this year’s Pride team.

27:14 – Bay FC visits on Friday and we’ll see if the Pride can build on the win at San Diego or if it was a moment of magic.
