PawedCast Episode 468: New York City FC Rewind, Red Bulls Preview, OCB-Crew 2, and More
Lions fall on the road in New York and now must head to New Jersey, and the Young Lions beat Columbus.
Orlando City couldn’t keep the momentum going from its win over Toronto FC as the Lions opened their road schedule with a 2-1 loss to New York City FC at Yankee Stadium. It was a poor start to each half by Orlando and the continuation of too many individual errors at the back that prevented a result, while the offense generated chances but wasn’t as clinical as in the first couple of matches. At least Robin Jansson returned to the lineup and Luis Muriel found the net.
We look back at the first road loss of the season, check back on our score predictions, and make our selections for Man of the Match.
The mailbagbox has us naming and guessing favorite players, predicting an over/under on how many Lions will play at least five minutes in 2025, and more. Remember, if there’s anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC, or hitting us up on Bluesky Social with that same hashtag.
OCB opened the season by salvaging the weekend for the organization with a 2-1 win over Columbus Crew 2 at home. Dyson Clapier and Zakaria Taifi were the offensive stars, and Carlos Mercado made several good saves to protect the lead as the Young Lions held on at the end. We look back at the win and look forward to OCB’s meeting with Atlanta on Sunday.
Finally, we looked ahead to Saturday afternoon, as the Lions return to the New York metropolitan area to face the Red Bulls in New Jersey. Orlando City will have to be sharp defensively against a team that leaves small margins with one of the best defenses in MLS. The Lions haven’t scored a lot of goals against New York recently, so fixing the mistakes at the back is more vital than ever. We make our predictions and discuss our key matchups.

Here’s how No. 468 went down:
0:15 – The Lions did not continue scoring lots of goals but did continue to concede them.
18:37 – The mailbagbox is full this week with both regular questions and requests for blind guesses.
34:42 – OCB opened the season with a victory over Crew 2 and our key matchups and score predictions for Orlando City at the New York Red Bulls.

PawedCast Episode 521: Kay Rawlins Retiring, Oscar Pareja Out, and More
The club loses two of its most iconic leaders in one week.
The hits just keep on coming early in this 2026 MLS season as Orlando City has parted ways with the club’s winningest coach and one of the league’s best managers over the years. Oscar Pareja’s time in charge of the Lions lasted six years and just three games into a seventh. But his departure isn’t the only critical one this week for the club.
We open the show with a brief discussion of club founder Kay Rawlins, who begins her retirement today after helping establish Orlando City SC from the remnants of the old USL Austin Aztex. She also helped Phil Rawlins build a soccer culture in Orlando, culminating in the club being awarded an MLS franchise. The team put tens of thousands in the old Citrus Bowl/Camping World Stadium in 2015 and 2016 and then introduced a beautiful, brand-new soccer-specific stadium to Orlando’s skyline in 2017.
It’s fair to say Kay Rawlins was also the heart of the organization, as few people have done more for the club’s integration into the community, and she was absolutely instrumental in bringing an NWSL side to the City Beautiful. Kay will be missed in the front office, but she’s earned her retirement, and you can look for her in the stands.
Our mailbagbox wanted to know about coaching options, and we tabled our answer until the second part of the show, but we did eventually get there. Remember, if there’s anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC, or hitting us up on Bluesky Social with that same hashtag.
We had a spirited discussion of Pareja’s time in Orlando, the manner in which he leaves his position, and whether anyone could have won with the cards he’d been dealt in the first few matches of this season or even some of what he had to put up with in 2025. We also talked about Ricardo Moreira placing his own rear end on the hot seat now that there isn’t a coaching scapegoat still hanging around, and we discussed what Moreira said about the next coaching hire and the style of play of the team. Oh, and we throw out a few names to answer that mailbagbox question.
Finally, we adjusted our score predictions for Saturday’s match against CF Montreal. While Dave only changed his score, I changed my result and I predict a couple more goals to be scored.

Here’s how No. 521 went down:
0:15 – The heart of Orlando City is leaving as Kay Rawlins bids goodbye to the club she helped build.
4:32 – Oscar’s exit from as many angles as we had time to cover and our mailbagbox question asked about potential replacements.

SkoPurp Soccer Episode 114: Caitlin Carducci Interview, Seattle Preview, and More
We talk to the Pride’s new VP of soccer operations and GM and get ready for the season opener against the Seattle Reign.
One of the quietest off-seasons in club history is over as the Orlando Pride prepare to open their 2026 NWSL season on Sunday. It’s been so quiet, we’ve had our maximum off-season schedule time off over the last couple of months, but we hope you’re still out there and ready for more SkoPurp Soccer talk.
We begin this episode with some rare preseason news, as the Pride actually released some details about their final scrimmage ahead of league play. Orlando posted a 2-1 win over Fort Lauderdale United, and we even know who scored the goals! Additionally, McKinley Crone is back with Orlando after being on loan with last weekend’s host team, so the Pride have plenty of goalkeepers once more.
After the preseason news, we were happy to welcome Orlando Pride Vice President of Soccer Operations and General Manager Caitlin Carducci to the show for the first time. We talked Carducci up about the Pride’s quiet off-season, the vacancy left behind by Emily Sams, the players who have impressed in camp, her approach to a large number of players who will either be out of contract or require a decision on an option year at season’s end, and much more. Big thanks to the Pride’s new GM for taking time out of her busy schedule to put up with our questions.
Our mailbagbox is curious about which players could slip themselves into the team’s top three goal scorers in 2026. Remember, you can ask us anything by hitting us up on Twitter at either @TheManeLand or @SkoPurpSoccer and using the hashtag #AskSkoPurp. You can use that same hashtag and hit @TheManeLand.bsky.social up on Bluesky. Or you can visit our show page, scroll down, and fill out the handy form. We’d also appreciate any ratings or reviews you can leave wherever you get your podcasts, and if you do that on Apple Podcasts, we’ll find them easily and read them on the show.
Finally, we looked ahead to Sunday’s match against the Seattle Reign. For Seattle, it will be the club’s third consecutive competitive match against Orlando, but they won’t see the Pride again until Decision Day. We discuss some of the Reign’s key players, the series history, our key matchups, and our score predictions for the season opener.
We’re in our off-season schedule now, so we’ll be back at least monthly, and as often as news requires.

Here’s how Episode 114 went down:
0:15 – Pride preseason news! We have some! Just in time for the regular season.
8:25 – Caitlin Carducci jumps on with us and spends about 20 minutes answering a variety of questions about the club.
32:00 – Our mailbagbox is short and sweet, and then we jump into our preview of Orlando vs. Seattle.

PawedCast Episode 520: NYCFC Rewind, OCB Beats Chicago, Montreal Preview, and More
The Lions continue to spiral downward and will be without their starting goalkeeper against CF Montreal.
If last week’s second-half performance against Inter Miami seemed like a low point, it wasn’t. Orlando City was just getting started. After shipping four goals in the second half and blowing a 2-0 lead at home against the Herons, the Lions saw goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau get sent off early and got put on full blast by New York City FC. The 5-0 loss wasn’t even as close as the score indicated, and although the game was ruined early, the response to the circumstances was disappointing.
We mostly complain about a performance that had just about no redeeming qualities, discuss the ripple effect on the club’s goalkeepers, check on our score predictions, and somehow come up with a Man of the Match.
Our mailbagbox asked us to ban something from the game and wanted to know which Lion will fail to play a full 90 before another Lion. Remember, if there’s anything — and we do mean anything — you want us to address on the show, just ask us by tweeting it to us at @TheManeLand with the hashtag #AskTMLPC, or hitting us up on Bluesky Social with that same hashtag.
Orlando City B gave us something to smile about at least, as the Young Lions bounced back from an opening day loss to beat Chicago Fire II 2-1 at home Sunday night. Justin Ellis scored the game winner and that will hopefully unlock his offense, which has been a bit stagnant for a minute. It was good to see OCB get the win, but there are concerns with the MLS NEXT Pro side’s center back situation as well.
Finally, we look ahead to the return of Dagur Dan Thorhallsson, as CF Montreal visits Orlando Saturday night. We look at the series history between the sides, provide our key matchups for the game, and make identical score predictions.

Here’s how No. 520 went down:
0:15 – Orlando City was not good, and the not-good parts were ignited by a Mad Max moment.
17:16 – The mailbagbox is a temporary salve on our wounds.
24:42 – OCB wins its first game of 2026 and the senior Lions brace for Impact (see what I did there?) with Montreal coming to town.
